Tilt-shift photography is a creative technique that manipulates focus and perspective to make real-world scenes look like miniature models. This is done using either a tilt-shift lens or in Photoshop.

Using this technique changes the plane of focus, creating a narrow depth of field. This selective focus mimics the shallow depth of field of close-up shots of miniature subjects, tricking our eyes into perceiving large scenes as if they are much smaller in scale.
